And so it begins…

I’ve never been one to subscribe to the hype of new product launches or found a reason to stand in line for hours to get the “next great thing”. I remember when the Xbox360 launched and watching Bill Gates hand that kid the very first console… I was thinking, “What a moron… he spent all of those hours waiting for that thing?” Five months later when I was sitting in front of my Xbox360, all I could think was, “What a moron, I could have been playing this thing so much sooner had I pre-ordered it!” I have to admit, one of the biggest reasons I rarely pre-order consoles or stand in line for first-run smartphones is the “bugs”. I have this thing about letting the Dev’s work out the post launch glitches that almost all of these things tend to have. Sure, they get fixed with patches and stuff like that but I’ve always been of the thinking that due to the hype machine around it and the time needed to develop it, they better get it right from the jump. I know, that’s selfish of me but that’s the consumer in me.

XboxOne
The XBOXONE was revealed this past Tuesday and it’s incredible. I know that’s cliche and it’s over-used but it really is a beautiful piece of machinery. Like with everything else “unreleased”, there are still some questions surrounding things like price and how it will play used/rented games. But, I’m not concerned enough by these things to say I’m not going to buy it. As a matter of fact, I’m going to be that same person that I laughed at when Bill Gates handed him the very first console. I’m going to pre-order it and stand in a long line to wait for it. I know that I might be forced to buy some over-priced bundle that may come with a game or two that I’m not interested in owning, but, this console is really worth that risk. This may sound silly, but, I’m most excited about the new controller design and I don’t even know why. It just looks impressive.

Xbox-Controller
While we’re still a long way off from it’s release, that doesn’t mean we can’t be excited about it, spread rumors about it and continue to Tweet annoying questions about it. That’s all a part of the journey to the official release date. The games I’m most excited about playing on the XBOX One are Battlefield 4 and Watch Dogs. I’ll be honest, I was very, VERY excited when Sony held their reveal for the PS4… all the way up until the actual reveal that wasn’t exactly a “reveal”. Sony gave us a single controller to stare at, while @Xbox gave us an experience and at least 5 months of sweet dreams!
